AT&T mHealth is a rich ecosystem of web and mobile applications that brings together cutting-edge capabilities in mobility, cloud and security to connect its users with health, wellness and clinical data.
The AT&T Foundry came to Citrusbyte with the goal of creating a platform to help doctors, patients, and health care providers communicate and collaborate more effectively, and efficiently.
Health care in the United States is heavily regulated. This regulation ensures patients receive the utmost protection and privacy regarding their personal medical information. These complicated protections require very specific and deliberate designs for systems and procedures associated with all electronic healthcare systems.
The AT&T Foundry team and Citrusbyte took the challenge to design a health platform. The primary goals were:
- Provide HIPAA-compliant, secure storage Personal Medical Information (PMI)
- Provide a feature-rich API to allow developers to integrate and utilize the platform
- Integrate and manage relationships with existing commercial health providers, allowing developers to integrate once with the mHealth API
- Provide a system that has the ability to easily scale-up and down as demand requires.
Design — Citrusbyte and AT&T designed a system utilizing the latest methods and technologies. The platform design utilizes the AT&T internal cloud services platform, Silver Lining.
Training & Process Improvement — We also develop processes and procedures to facilitate an internal handoff to the AT&T operations team, who had not previously utilized the AT&T Silver Lining Platform. This allowed AT&T to utilize internal existing resources to maintain the entirety of the new, Silver Lining based mHealth Platform.
DevOps — We designed and implemented a completely automated DevOps suite that includes the ability to provision any aspect of the mHealth system on-demand. This provides AT&T with the ability to deploy elasticity.
Implementation — Citrusbyte designed a suite of API’s, and utilized these API’s to integrate with existing third party vendors. This allows developers to integrate with common third party members, without any specific integration requirements.
Utilizing Citrusbyte internal expertise in a variety of areas, we designed and build software clients as demonstration examples of how the AT&T mHealth Platform can be used.
Healthy Family — Manage your family's health and turn maintaining your wellness into a team sport. HealthyFamily allows parents to track children's health data from a combination of sources, including Fitbit, MyZeo, and Jawbone UP, and use that data to manage achievements and rewards (like video game and computer time) tied to physical activity and health.
Burn It — Every wondered how your daily wellness activity stacks up? BurnIt might be for you — it enables you to mix and match data feeds from a variety of sources: applications, devices, and static biometrics, all while helping to motivate you and track your progress through a variety of goal based incentives.
Diabetes Aid — Managing your glucose doesn't have to be a pain. With a third party sub-cutaneous glucose monitoring device, Diabetaid helps diabetics and their loved ones manage diet and insulin intake through a variety of visualization and alert mechanisms. Includes emergency contact alert for times when your insulin is in the danger zone.
Slumber Score — Who says sleeping can't be a blast? SlumberScore encourages you to monitor and improve your sleep habits over the long term by enabling you to visualize, compare, and share your sleep data gathered from devices like MyZeo and Jawbone's UP. The app includes external device pairing and sharing capabilities powered by the mHealth Platform.
Timelife — Ever wanted to know if your social media activity increases when you've slept well the night before? Do you want manage the time you spend on Facebook based on your daily physical activity? TimeLife give you the ability to mix, match, and compare your wellness data with your social media activity including check-ins, status updates, photo posts, and more.
A critical portion of the AT&T mHealth Platform was the development of a community of participants to utilize the mHealth Platform. Citrusbyte assisted with AT&T in this task by providing key industry talent from the Citrusbyte team to participate at conferences and trade shows, providing talks and advice to members of the industry – assisting AT&T in cementing their reputation within the healthcare field.
Citrusbyte and AT&T designed and build a complete suite and ecosystem, all fully integrated allowing developers, device makers, and health care providers to come together to share information associated with health care, all in a secure, HIPAA-compliant way.
