At Citrusbyte, we don’t build ‘one-offs’. We build ‘one of a kinds’. We believe winning Web companies and software assets must deliver on the same three core principles of great physical architecture: 1) Durability – modern tech blueprints must be flexible and dynamic; 2) Utility – applications must be useful and functional for the people using it; and 3) Beauty – great software extends beyond the blueprint and into the finished product itself, and ultimately should be easily identifiable, attractive, and inviting to those exploring the destination.

So how do we go about it?

While Rome wasn’t built in a day, thanks to the Internet, a robust suite of development tools, and smarter thinking, you can now build some pretty impressive online architecture at a sprinters pace. But be warned, ‘traditional’ software development shops have a tendency to sell you the dream marriage of good, fast, and cheap. The reality is, that kind of marriage usually comes with slipping timelines, failed launches, missing features, broken links, and expensive change orders.

At Citrusbyte we simply don’t offer ‘development as usual’. It’s just not in our DNA. We use new school fundamentals which allow us to create fully functioning Web-enabled applications on time, on strategy, and on budget.

We do this by 1) Employing an Agile processes called SCRUM. It allows us to adapt and use rapid iterative development practices; 2) Building the software with the latest and greatest programming tools like Ruby on Rails, allows us to build well-structured and test driven websites faster by leveraging existing libraries of code rather than starting from scratch; and 3) Hiring and working with only exceptional people. These self-managed groups get things done much faster and with more efficiency.

While we can’t claim to have built an actual Coliseum, our pioneering approach has been remarkably successful, driving millions of people to some of the most prominent destinations online. Last year alone, Citrusbyte architected four of the largest and most successful Ruby on Rails Web applications in the world. And we’re just getting started.
